This is actually a replica of the type of cannon on the HMS Pandora, the ship that was sent after the mutinous HMS Bounty crew. It sank just off the coast of Townsville. The Tropical Museum of Queensland, associated with the University of Queensland, is undertaking a huge excavation and preservation project. Interesting displays.
