Gruel

Some of the hostels (they're called backpackers now) offered a free steaming hot bowl of gruel with each night's paid accomodation. Here's one of the better offerings. Of course I kid, I kid. This is a cool video of the boiling mud pits in the middle of town in Rotorua.
